Originally from Dijon, France, Dominique de Anfrasio moved to Montreal, Canada as a young child with his parents and later relocated to the United States with them. He lived in Astoria and Forest Hills in New York before moving back to France where he finished high school. A second generation hair stylist, Mr. de Anfrasio attended the Coiffure International de Dijon and then apprenticed at a number of hair styling salons in France before returning to the United States. Once in the United States, he worked for several hair salons before joining the staff of Gio Salon in 1982 at the Hotel Pierre in New York City. Dominique quickly established himself as one of the “stars” of Gio and was almost a son to Gio Hernandez, the owner of the hair salon. His client list read like a “who’s who” of New York City’s powerful, rich and famous, including such figures as Roone Arledge (President of ABC News), Roger Ailes (President of Fox News), Frank Gifford (Sportscaster), Jeff Greenfield (CNN Reporter), Francesco Scavullo (Photographer), Hon. Crown Prince Alexander (Yugoslavia) and Daniel Boulud (Exclusive Chef). The “barber shop” at the Pierre has a long history of service to New York’s “movers and shakers” going back to the 1920’s. Gio Hernandez passed the business on to Dominique de Anfrasio in 1991, who changed the name of the “barber shop” to Dominique Salon. Mr. de Anfrasio, knowing that he needed to change with the times, converted his “barber shop” to a full-scale salon catering to both men and women. Mr. de Anfrasio continues the tradition of elegance and service today in a fully renovated, state-of-the-art salon, still catering to the “who’s who” of New York, as well as an expanded international clientele list, now re-named SALON DOMINIQUE. again one step into the future-
